Been super busy here. Sorry for no blogs keeping everyone up on everything.

Fall In Mass

Hey Everyone,

Haven't written for awhile. I sometimes think I am writing to myself. I guess that is not a bad thing in some respects. Thank you to the few of you who get that a blog is interactive and a way for me to keep in contact with my family and friends. I feel like sometimes I am on an Island playing a game like Survivor and that any contact with the outside world is a BIG deal. LOL

Anyway, back to Fall in New England:

I had an opportunity to go to New York City on the train with a few Friends. It was a blast.

This is Becky, Monika and Sionnie. We had lots of time on our hands on the train. It was great to be with other Photographers who get me as a photographer. LOL

We walked all around NY: Battery Park, Ground Zero and China Town. While at Ground Zero we went to the Church that sits right in front of it. I was there before and took a picture of a grave stone that appeared to have a ghost image on it. So of course I went back to see if she was still there. Well, I'll let you judge for yourself!

Do you see her? The picture I took a year ago and this one from this past weekend are the same. She must live in the grave stone. ???????????

We had Monday off for Columbus day and I drove around town taking pictures of the fall leaves. It is beautiful. I took more of the country side, but I don't like what they look like, so you get to see my close-ups. I do love me some macro shoots. LOL

Hope you all have a Great Weekend!

P.S. Some school work (images) should follow soon!

I have heat!

Yeah, the landlord got the heat fixed and it's hot in here!!!

School is getting crazy. We have 3 assignments due on Wednesday and got 3 additional assignments on Monday! Busy, busy, busy.

I am learning lots. We started Commercial Studio today. We shot with a large format camera, too. The 4x5 is really cool. It is a lot to take in but I am looking forward to working with it for sure. We are using film, but will be switching to digital soon.

As soon as the instructors show us how to scan with their equipment, we can scan all our film. Then I can put up some images, so you all can see what I am up to.

Maybe if I have some photos, more peeps will read my blog and/or leave comments. What ya think. Would you come back more or even comment if I had more pictures.

Well it is time for bed! Hope all is well with everyone!

Love ya all.

It is Freezing! My apartment doesn't have heat yet. The landlord is in the process of changing it from oil to gas. Just have the inspection to complete yet. It is still freezing. He loaned me a space heater until he can get it all up and running.

So I am running, literally running, around my apartment to keep warm. I have a hat, gloves and scarf on, too. LOL

How's the weather in your neck of the woods?????

My Apartment

I finally was able to take some pics of my apartment here in Mass. I have to admit it is one of the most luxurious apartments that I have ever lived in. There are 16 windows. Can you believe that???

Anyway, tell me what you think of it. I have been furnacing it with stuff off of Craig's List. Most of the stuff has been from their free list. Love FREE stuff!!!

So here it is: (Sierra and Squeakers followed me to each room to get their pics takens. It was funny.)

Living room - Free couch, Free Chair and Free TV. (Just got a free recliner after I took this picture. Actually it is still in my car. LOL)

Dining room - No furniture! :( But there is a built-in window seat!

Kitchen - I have a dining table and 3 chairs off camera! (Craig's list $40!!!)

Pantry - Check out the full size window in the pantry. LOL

Bedroom - There are actually 3 windows in the bedroom. Love it!!!

Bathroom - And another window!

Sierra and Squeaker's room (spare room) -

Sun porch - It was night when I took the pictures, but you get the idea! The kitties have access to the porch from a window in the kitchen. Fun for them!!!

New Digital back

We got our digital back for the Mamiya camera today. Now we are going to shoot digital with the medium format camera. I know this may sound like I am talking Greek, just nod your head and say "WOW" and know that I am excited. If you do know what all that is... Isn't that cool!!!

It only shoots RAW files, but I think we are learning how to convert them so that I can post some on my blog soon.

It was a beautiful day today. The leaves are starting to change. Near the grocery store there is a row of trees that are pure bright yellow. I am going to work on getting a good shoot this weekend.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well.

Love ya all.

3 Shoots

Well yesterday was full of shoots. I shot one assignment from 8am until 11:30am with a DSLR (Canon 5D). Then ate lunch (quickly). Then from 1pm to 3:30pm with a medium format camera with film. Then the last shoot with the medium format camera with film again from 3:30pm until 7pm. That was a lot. It was fun, but I was definitely a spent puppy. Had pizza with 2 other classmates, but don't really remember the conversation. LOL

Today I got my first assignment back. I received full credit. The grading is a bit unconventional. Instead of grades , we get a potential dollar value that the assignment is worth. Then when we receive the assignment back, it has comments as well as the dollar amount that you received.

Anyway, I got a grade of $500, full credit. Yippee!

As soon as we get into more of the technical stuff, I can scan my assignments and maybe post some stuff. Does anyone want to see some of the images????

The kitties are running around like crazies. It is hilarious. They sound like horse on the hardwood floor. I live on the second floor and keep telling them I am going to get in trouble because they are so loud. LOL!

Well I need to go to bed. I am pretty tired.

Love ya all!

Shelburne Falls

One of our shoots this week was at Shelburne Falls. Our assignment was to shoot color on color. Example: A person with a yellow top against a building that was blue. The other assignment was lines. Pretty simple right, a group of us were there all day. Not because it was hard, but because we were doing a lot of set up. Move here, move there, smile, don't smile. LOL It was a lot of fun.

During the day we were in and out of these old colorfully painted trolleys and I looked up and saw a bald eagle. Of course, I told everyone I could, to look up and see her. She was beautiful. It was an unbelievable site for sure. The funny thing about it is that there were 100 photography students around, each with a camera, but not one of us took a picture of the bald eagle. Why you ask? Well our assignment is with film and we had 16 total shoots on the roll and our assignment was for 11 shoots. So we only had an extra 5 shoots if we needed to re-shoot something. So no incredible bald eagle shoots today.

We will be getting our digital backs this week for the camera and able to shoot tons of pictures without worries. Maybe I can manifest the bald eagle to come to another shoot. LOL

Anyway, school is very busy. Never would have imagined that there would be so much to manage. I have to write everything down in two places to make sure I remember everything. If I am not completely organized person by the time this is all over, I would be greatly surprised.

Any way, I will have lots of pictures to add in the future. Right now still film and we only see the transparencies, no prints.

Getting cold here at night, around 45 degrees. Yes this is cold. I don't have heat in my apartment yet, but hopefully in the next week or so.

Well it is past my bedtime. Good night all. Love you and miss everyone!

Monday

Today starts our second week in classes. Everyday is so jam-packed with lots of stuff to learn. Today was no exception. I was ready to go to bed at 8pm. I am forcing myself to stay up so that I don't wake up a 4am and it is only 9:30pm.

Tomorrow we are shooting "outside portraits" in the park along the river. Should be lots of fun with a little stress added in there. We are shooting with a Mamiya 645 with a film back. (for those of you who are up on all the camera stuff. LOL) The assignment is to take a series of 9 shots. We have 16 shots on the film and have to do the assignment with only the one roll. So no major mess ups!!! ;}

When we start shooting with a digital back, I can post some of the shots so you all can see them.

*Hey if you all know of a photographer that you like their work, send me her/his name on the blog. I am looking to find lots of photographers work for a project.

*Anyone have any ideas of what I can do for a self portrait? Send me some ideas!!!

Anyway, short note tonight. Good night.

P.S. I'll make sure I have more interesting things as the days go on. If I don't maybe you all will. LOL

P.S.S. If you find a typo this is what you should do: Get Over IT! LOL

Love ya all!

Hi Everyone! This will be a long one since it is the first and I am behind in blogging!

Well I am here in Mass. The drive took 4 days and 3 nights. Very long with two cats. They did very well. No major incidents to speak about.

The first week of school was exciting and exhausting. We have 1, 2, and 4 hours classes that make up a 9 hour day with an hour lunch. We have apprxly 221 students. My goal is meet each one and have a conversation with them and try to memorize their name. (On top of my school work, LOL)

We received some equipment and have already had a field trip to get used to it and learn about exposure and lighting. Yeah some of it is stuff I already know, but I am pretending that I don't know any of it so that I learn from the beginning. (Being self taught, I don't want to miss something that I may have been doing wrong.)

My apartment is the most luxurious apartment ever. I have 16 windows! Nice!!! I am living alone with the two kitties. I thought about a roommate, but adjusted my budget to be able to live here on my own. No cable or internet:( was my cost cutting measures. Right now a very nice neighbor is sharing her/his wireless internet connect. We love sharing!!!

As soon as I get a chance I will video my place and put it out here for all to see.

I have met a few new people that I have become friends with. One is Monika, she lives right next door to me. It is like we are roommates since we have been doing a lot together. It is funny actually. We just need walkie-talkies and we are set.

The weather: during most days it has been around 75 to 80. At night about 60 to 70. But some nights have gotten down to 45 or so. That is cooooooolllllldddddd! Where is my electric blanket and fire place. The landlord said I should hold off turning on my heat until November. LMAO!!! That's a funny one. The kitties have been laying at the foot of the bed. Most nights Sierra doesn't kick Squeaker out!

Well I am going to write more later about the school and the guest lecturers. It has been incredible and it's only been a week and a half.

What's going on in everyone elses lives?????

Thank you in advance for blogging so that I can still feel connected to you all while I am away!

Love Ya!

Gidget
Sierra thinks she can fit into any and all small places. I was unpacking and Sierra was trying on the drawer for size!
